Traditional metal braces are another highly effective orthodontic treatment to fix such dental issues as crooked or overcrowded teeth and poor bite alignment. Traditional braces attach to the teeth through a series of brackets and wires.

These wires must be adjusted and tightened regularly to keep your progress on track. Over time, your teeth are forced into a new position through pressure from the brackets and wires. Progress is slow but steady.

How Long Does Treatment with Traditional Braces Take?

Each patient is an individual, and thus, their desired outcomes may be dramatically different. As an average, you can expect your orthodontic treatment with traditional braces to take approximately 12 to 24 months. Once the correct alignment has been achieved, you will then need to wear a retainer to ensure the teeth remain in their new and improved position.
