You will need to be careful not to bite your tongue or cheeks during your recovery period accidentally. 

After applying your veneers, you may notice that your newly fixed teeth don’t feel smooth. This roughness can be attributed to the bonding agent used to cement your veneers in place and will typically wear off with regular wear from eating and cleaning your teeth. 

Veneers are designed to last up to 15 years. However, your veneers’ longevity depends on how well you take care of them. Here are a few things you should heed to ensure your veneers last:

  • Avoid chewing hard things that could chip or damage your veneers
  • Do not open packages with your teeth
  • Chew foods using your back and side teeth 
  • Do not grind or clench your teeth
  • Use a splint, retainer, or mouth guard if necessary for the protection
